What these books didn't do was reward good decision making. The choices were essentially random and you could have a bad outcome on any page. A good start in the genre but they could have been so much better.

No mention of CYOA being in the tiny literary genre of books written in the second person?

Enjoyed these books as a kid. Of course, they don’t hold up as an adult because any given decision is basically a coin-flip. Fighting Fantasy was more appealing to me as a young adult, although I never bothered with the dice and I don’t think many people did.

Can I also say that your articles are sublimely written! I can easily envisage them in a printed book and I’m looking forward to the promised kickstarter. I wish I could write like you.
